A group of volunteers has come forward to help secure the future of West Buckland Pre-School.
Following an appeal for new trustees, 18 people attended an emergency meeting on November 3 – with ten people volunteering to form a pre-school committee.
Among the new committee members is Peter Watts of Point Three offering business expertise and the support of his Community Interest Company.
In a further meeting on Tuesday (November 10) Annie Horton was appointed chair.
She said: “There was a tremendous response to an appeal for more committee members to come forward. The pre-school now has a committee in place that its constitution requires.
“People from a variety of backgrounds have offered their support and expertise. It is a huge boost to West Buckland Pre-School to have so many people willing to help.
“Fortunately the process of finding a new committee did not have any effect on the care and support the pre-school has offered to its children and it has been operating normally throughout.
“We are continuing to welcome new children to the pre-school.”
An appeal was launched in October when the outgoing committee was unable to form a new group to take over at its annual general meeting.
The pre-school offers local authority funded care and learning for children from the age of two at West Buckland Village Hall on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. It also operates a rising fives session with West Buckland School on Tuesday afternoons.
Four part time members of staff are employed by the pre-school which was rated “good” by Ofsted at its last inspection.
Places are available and enquiries from families who would like to join or visit the pre-school can be directed to Angela Wills, Pre-School Manager, on 07779 459386 or 01823 669628. Read more about the pre-school at www.westbucklandpreschool.weebly.com
