Court Fields School has been fundraising for the people of Madagascar over the past 4 years. We have been working with the Madagascar Development Fund and have managed to raise just over £10,000. This money has provided a clean water supply for three villages which has meant that over 500 people no longer have to walk long distances, sometimes five times a day, to collect water for their families.
A group of eight students will be travelling to Madagascar in the summer of 2016, with the intention of spending 16 days on expedition helping with various local projects on the island to aid the villagers. These students have been working extremely hard to raise the money that they need to finance their trip. Each student will have to find the sum of £3,750 in order to take part in this expedition.
The students have been having cake sales, quizzes, raffles, bag packing and various other activities over the past few months, but are still some way short of the final amount they need in order to go.
We have had a lot of support from the local community as well as from many businesses. We would encourage and welcome any support in this venture. Should you wish to find out what you could do, please contact Court Fields School and ask to be put through to the Madagascar Expedition leader.
After the expedition the students will take a lead role in raising money for future projects and raising awareness of the poverty and the needs of the people of Madagascar.
